Why Catalina Island?
I chose Catalina Island for my
first venture into photographic expression for a variety of reasons.
Not only did I grow up there and live there for 20 years, but it was 75
square miles of unspoiled California where I learned to appreciate wide open
spaces, natural beauty and observe nature at work. It is also where I was
inspired to develop and practice landscape and scenic photography. In
addition, I love the place and I know the place. Someday I'll publish
my maxims of successful scenic/landscape photography, of which the previous
sentence contains two. Avalon is the small town on Catalina, and it is
where I learned to appreciate the strong social connections that small towns offer in life.
